Our Field of Battle
"For the LORD your God is He that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you"   (Deuteronomy 20:4).

We have no enemies but the enemies of God. Our fights are not against men but against spiritual wickednesses. We war with the devil and the blasphemy and error and despair which he brings into the field of battle. We fight with all the armies of sin -- impurity, drunkenness, oppression, infidelity, and ungodliness. With these we contend earnestly, but not with sword or spear; the weapons of our warfare are not carnal.

Jehovah, our God, abhors everything which is evil, and, therefore, He goeth with us to fight for us in this crusade. He will save us, and He will give us grace to war a good warfare and win the victory. We may depend upon it that if we are on God's side God is on our side. With such an august ally the conflict is never in the least degree doubtful. It is not that truth is mighty and must prevail but that might lies with the Father who is almighty, with Jesus who has all power in heaven and in earth, and with the Holy Spirit who worketh His will among men.

Soldiers of Christ, gird on your armor. Strike home in the name of the God of holiness, and by faith grasp His salvation. Let not this day pass without striking a blow for Jesus and holiness.
Thought Of The Week:

"FALLING AWAY FROM THE FAITH"

"Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition." II Thessalonians 2:3.

Go back a few miles (years). God's churches (Baptist Churches) were standing for truth. They were practicing the Word of God. The Word was preached and it was their rule of faith and practice. They believed their membership was to be godly, a separated people, holy unto the Lord. The Church was the temple of God. It was known that the Lord was building His church and that "we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building." I Corinthians 3:9. It was built by the Lord and for the Lord. Only those saved by God's grace could be members. A church dedicated to standing for the precious truth of God's Word.

There was no cause for compromise; no cause to work with God's enemies. "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world." John 17:16. "The church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth." I Timothy 3:15. But as we travel toward the end of our journey, God places another sign along the way. "Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first" II Thessalonians 2:3. What day? "Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him" II Thessalonians 2:1. Yes, the last days will be ones of apostasy... turning away from revealed truth. Not that the truth has not been preached, but the denying of the truth of God's Word. "That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness" II Thessalonians 2:12. "They received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved." II Thess. 2:10.

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils" I Timothy 4:1. This tells us that they shall know the truth, but will be led away from the truth by giving heed to the teachings of devils and not to the teachings of God. Spirits that would lead people to obey false teaching. The Bible calls them seducing spirits. Spirits that would lead people away from the truth.

This sets the world in a position to receive the anti-christ ... Satan in a man. The rejecting of the truth is a terrible sin, "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie" II Thessalonians 2:11. Yes, they will turn from God and begin to exalt man. They will turn to worldly means. They will turn to men to lead the church instead of to Jesus Christ, our head. I can see the stage set for the Man of Sin, which I believe will be Satan incarnate. All of Satan's power will be concentrated in a man. "And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth" Revelation 12:9. A man that will have great power and a solution to the world's problems because he will be the cause of all the problems. He will bring a false peace because he will be the cause of all trouble. He will make men believe a lie. "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it" John 8:44. This man will have power to do many signs and wonders ... a man that all the world will worship. "And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world" Revelation 13:7-8.
